Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions:

1. Do I Need To Cure My Nails With UV Light?

It is necessary to use a UV LED lamp to cure your Ohora nail strips. You can utilize any UV LED lamp that has a power rating of 6W. Ohora nail strips come semi-cured, which means that the liquid gel inside your strips has been pre-hardened by 60%.

Because they aren't totally cured, you can easily stretch and mold them to your nail's form. However, if left uncured, smudging or shifting might occur. We propose curing your nail strips under a UV LED lamp 1-3 times for the liquid gel to harden fully. This will seal and keep your nail strips in place.

2. How Long Do Ohora Nails Last?

On average, Ohora gel nails can last up to 14 days with proper care. This is even longer than the average gel manicure.

3. How Do I Store My Unused Or Leftover Ohora Nail Strips?

Ohora nail strips react to changes in light and temperature. Your nail strips will harden if they're exposed to temperatures below room temperature (68 – 72°F) or bright light (sunlight or UV LED lamps). To preserve them, store any leftover nails in a cool, dark place.

If your nail strips have become hard after being exposed to light, they cannot go back to their original form. However, if your nail strips have hardened from the cold, they will soften again when brought back up to room temperature. You can reheat your hardened nail strips by holding them between both of your hands for 10 minutes. You can also use one GellyDrop's Gelly Warmer to warm them up into a nice pliable texture.

4. Can Children Wear Semi-cured Gel Nails?

The liquid gel inside the strips is not toxic and will not harm your child if they put their fingers in their mouth. However, we recommend that children do not wear semi-cured gel nails.

5. Do I Need To Remove My Ohora Nails Before Doing Water Sports?

No, you don't need to remove your Ohora nails before swimming or doing any water sports. The gel will not come off in the water.

6. I'm Pregnant/ Breastfeeding. Can I still use Ohora products?

Yes, you can still use Ohora products when you're pregnant or breastfeeding. The gel is safe to use and will not harm your baby.

7. I Have Cuts/Wounds On My Fingers/Toes. Can I still use Ohora products?

If you have any cuts or wounds on your fingers or toes, we recommend that you wait until they heal before using Ohora products. The gel may irritate your wound and cause it to take longer to heal.

How Are The Ohora Semi-cured Gel Nail Strips Applied?

Multicoloured ohora nails

These strips are applied like any regular semi-cured gel strip. Below, we will go over the steps on how to apply these strips.

Step One: Prep Nails

For this stage, you'll need to push your cuticles back, file your nails, and wipe your nails with polish remover or alcohol. This will help the semi-cured nails adhere better to your natural nails. You want to make sure there is no oil on your fingernails.

Step Two: Match Gel Nail Sizes To Fingernails

After your nails are prepped, it's time to find the right-sized gel nails. Each set comes in multiple sizes. To find the right size, hold the strip up to your nail and select the one that covers most of your nail without hanging over the sides. If you're unsure, it's better to go with a bigger size rather than a smaller one.

Step Three: Remove The Clear Cover On Gel Nail Piece And Apply To Nails

Once you have the right-sized strip, it's time to apply them to your nails. To do this, first, remove the clear plastic cover on top of the gel nail piece. Next, place the sticky side of the gel nail on your natural nail. Make sure the gel nail is placed in the center of your nail and that there are no air bubbles. If there are any air bubbles, gently press them out with your finger.

Step Four: Repeat Steps Two And Three For All Ten Fingers

Repeat steps two and three until all ten fingers have gel nails applied. Make sure the gel nails are placed in the center of your nail and that there are no air bubbles.

Step Five: Trim Excess Gel Nails

Once all ten fingers have gel nails, take a nail file and gently file off any excess gel nails hanging over the sides of your natural nails. You can also use a nail clipper to quickly trim off the excess gel.

Step Six: Let The Gel Nails Cure

After all ten nails have gel nails applied, it's time to cure them. To do this, place your hand under the UV LED lamp and let the nails cure for 2-4 minutes under a 6-watt lamp. If you are using a UV LED lamp that has higher wattage, the curing time will be less. Generally, you will know the gel is fully cured when it is hard and shiny. Repeat the curing process for both hands.

Step Seven: Apply Top Coat (optional)

After your nails have cured, you can apply a top coat. This is optional but will help extend the life of your manicure. To apply the top coat, simply paint it on like you would regular nail polish and cap the free edge. Make sure to cure the top coat under the UV LED lamp for 1-3 minutes.

Removal Process

A wooden cuticle stick is included in each Ohora kit. This wooden stick can be used to both adhere the edges of the gel wrap onto your nails as well as lift the gel wrap off. Soak this stick in your nail polish remover and push it against your nails to remove the nail strips.

1. Drip the remover serum on the edges of the fingernails and let it sit for a few minutes.

2. Gently push the stick against the edge of your nail strip to avoid overbending and damaging your nails. It's very important to remove the gel strips slowly to avoid damage to nails. Make sure to add more remover serum to the nails if the strip feels like it is still stuck on tight, and let the serum sit for a bit to loosen the adhesive. Do not force the nail strips off your nails when it doesn't feel like it is ready to come off.

3. Keep pushing until the entire nail strip lifts up and detaches from your nail.
